Introduction

The evolution of the sector towards converged networks and Next Generation Networks - NGN - is linked to the evolution of the state towards the Information Society, to the extent that these networks are the main transport infrastructure and information for connectivity of people. These developments imply for operators continuous innovation of its offer of services and networks to meet the needs of society. The convergence of services, applications and devices drives this trend, for customer benefits, it gets more and better services at a competitive cost. Next Generation Networks NGN (New Generation Networks) is a reality that can move towards achieving these objectives. In a context of convergence, the services operate using a single technology platform, so the CRT should be considered that the various references and regulatory parameters must also be integrated to ensure effective competition between operators in these markets.

Packet transport mechanisms employed by an NGN

Many definitions of NGN, however, on the international validity, we consider the definition given by the Study Group of the Telecommunication Standardization Sector of International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) in Recommendation 2001, which defines an NGN as "packet-based network that allows the provision of telecommunications services and which can be used multiple transport technologies of broadband QoS-enabled (Quality of Service).
