Introduction

Management and leadership sound as if they go together, but they actually serve two different purposes and responsibilities in an organization. Management is a position of authority, they tell what needs to be done, and make sure that they are done correctly and in a timely manner. A successful manager must be able to plan, delegate, organize measure, and control both the task and their employees. A manager can hold an important position, but that position can be trained for. Some people make good leaders because of their personality. They are inspiring to others and focused on organizing, and not afraid to fail. They are positive thinkers and enjoy taking the reins.

Monetary Structure at Starbucks

Starbucks has been increasing its debt every year, and at a pace that is faster than their assets are growing (which is clearly unhealthy). This is why it would be beneficial if the firm chose to slow down its expansion and to focus more on marketing their products (Backer, 2008). In such a saturated market as the one that they are in Starbucks needs to focus on increasing consumer awareness and to decrease debt as much as possible. In closing it would appear that Starbucks can become even more profitable if they slow down their expansion and concentrate on the stores that they already have open.

For Starbucks to eliminate financial problems and still make a profit and even potentially attain their goals for 2012, they need to make some changes. Possible alternatives are to reduce the price of their coffee, reduce the quality of their beans, not focusing on environment awareness programs to save money, continue to expand their other lines such as clothing and food to make money their and reduce the price of their coffee, or even open a generic branch of itself.

Human Resource at Starbucks

HR must network with the staff, assist in keeping with the company's mission, and align that they meet with customer or consumer needs. The issues concerning all these groups need to be listed and prioritized and addressed, with management having one point of view, employee's having another opinion and yet the consumers having another method of viewing issues and concerns. No perfect solution, yet HR can maximize a positive safe environment at Starbucks locations and the also minimizes that unfair and unwelcome encounters will be experienced.
