Introduction

True leaders know that leadership is not about personal success, but the success of the people that are affected. True leaders focus on how to help others achieve their goals, and how to pass more and more responsibility and authority. This is one of the few ways to achieve good or outstanding financial results and business in the long term. In the short term it may be achieved without real leadership. However, over a longer period of time to achieve good results, both in the bar and a good external unfavorable market situation requires genuine leadership skills and develop the next leaders.

Personal Leadership development plan has been defined as a plan whose intentional efforts are to provide a plan with opportunities to learn, grow and change. In addition to that, leadership development is an effort aimed at providing an opportunity to emerging leaders to produce the skills which necessary needed to function effectively within the organization. Therefore, this paper shall discuss the core elements of my personal leadership development plan.

Thesis Statement

Leaders are the key players in any field who 'Make Things Happen'. They not only put in their efforts to excel within their expertise but also set an example for others to get inspired and motivated too. The leadership plan intends to include all the required elements.

Leadership traits

In every one's life that are certain challenges at organizational leadership level. In the development and learning process there are conditions that work as catalyst and facilitate the process of development and counter those challenges. Following are the traits that I shall focus upon to develop my leadership skills.

Vision; The leader must have a vision and a passion to achieve his goals. A vision provides a clear set of strategies that he may need to reach his destiny.

Openness: That means listen and be open to new ideas - even if they do not necessarily comply with current ways of thinking. Good leaders are able to accept ideas from employees to take up and apply. Openness is mutual respect and trust between managers and employees. The team, however, always supplied with fresh ideas.

Creativity: The ability to "think outside the box" is important as a leader when resourceful problems are looking for a solution. Creativity allows leaders to see things that others do not see.

Fairness; means to consistently measure others with the same degree. A leader must listen to all opinions before making a judgment. He should avoid to make decisions without the necessary evidence. When employees realize that the boss treats them fairly, they reward it with loyalty and commitment.

Assertiveness; is not the same as aggressiveness. Rather, it is meant the ability to express clearly what is expected in order to avoid misunderstandings. A leader must evince clout to obtain the desired results. Just as it is important to understand what the people expect from their boss.
