Nikki Giovanni

Nikki Giovanni was born on June 7, 1943 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She grew up in Lincoln Heights, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1960 she took admission at the Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated in 1967 with BA Honors degree in history. She then went on to attend University of Pennsylvania and University of Colombia for higher studies in literature and poetry.
