Abstract

The study will examine the personality development among people over a span of life. Individuals live in an environment that has many factors which can affect the personality of the people living in that environment. The study will take into consideration different empirical studies to find the effects of environment on a person's personality development over the life span. Personality is a feature that is enhancing from the day of birth and each day for an individual comes with learning. Personality has different traits like attitude, behavior, and social interaction, emotions, feels, appearance and many other aspects of his character, all play there defined roles in the development of the personality. There are also different variables present in the environment that have their effect on personality development like cultural, social, educational, legal and many other factors, which all effect on the development of the person from childhood till a mature individual.

Introduction

According to Aurther, (2006) personality is the mask that people wear. People have different persona's which they project or display and also have different psychological experiences inside which are called the self of the person. Personality is a collection of people thoughts, feelings and behavior of a person. Personality is not something random, it is properly organized and all the different aspects of the society are interconnected. Personality is consistent but it is affected by different biological processes. The different traits of personality that is attitude, behavior and feeling enable individuals to carry on the process of social interaction. Every person is different from the other; it is personality that makes every individual a unique character. The different values, customs and beliefs are reflected by a person's personality. There are five dimensions of a personality which include: the physical self of a person that is proper nourishment and upbringing of our-self in the shape of food, manners, behaviors, antiquates and other things that help in the growth of an individual. The second dimension is the level of energy that is present in an individual for example enthusiastic, anger, restlessness and anxiety. Energy can have both the positive and the negative effects on the personality. Third is the mental ability of the person which includes level of intelligence, responsiveness, ability to communicate his message to the people with whom they interact, selfness, control, stress bearing ability and calmness of the mind. Fourth is the intellectual level of person which is a very important tool of looking at a person's personality. Fifth is the blissfulness among a person's personality which shows that person remain happy, in either success or a failure, in grief or sorrow due to the positivity in his personality. The different factors in an environment affect the personality of a person as he or she pass from a different stage of life.
