Introduction

Every time we breathe, our lungs penetrate about 0.5 liters of air, providing oxygen to our body. The atmosphere also contains thousands of particles; together with the air we breathe matter of these particles can be harmful to health, depending on the size and composition they have. Particulate matter (PM) is the term used for a mixture of solid and liquid particles that are in the air.
