Formal Research and Business Proposal

Research is the process of collection and gathering of data. This data includes variety of information like facts, figures, tables, charts, statements, opinions, ideas, statements, description and so on. This is a systematic, well defined, well devised, well managed and well organized method of obtaining information (Robson, 2002).

The term business proposal means a written document of about 10 to 50 pages describing a business opportunity as well as measures to be taken in order to take advantage of this opportunity. A business plan is both for business creation and the strategic and operational planning of existing businesses need. It is a useful tool to assess how aware the strengths and capabilities of the business project. It should not be considered an absolute tool, but a dynamic tool, adaptable to changes that occur inside or outside the company.

Commonalities

First basis on which research and business proposal can be compared is the method or process of performing and completing the two tasks. Both the activities of formal research and business proposal can be completed by following proper steps and methods. In both the research and proposal it is imperative to move step by step in order to reach to a particular result (Flick, 2002).

If we consider the structure and organization of both the documents then we can find similarities between formal research and business proposal. First the problem and background of the problem is defined in both the documents and then the method is explained and in the final part of the both the documents of research and business proposals findings are presented.

Moreover, with regards to the scope the two documents can be found similar. Neither, business proposal nor formal research can be conducted without defining the purpose or scope. In order to undertake the process of both that is research and business proposal it is important that the purpose and scope should be clearly defined. Without knowing the purpose and scope these two processes cannot be undertaken.

Feasibility is another facet on the basis of which formal research and business proposal can be compared to each other or can be regarded as similar to each other. In addition to their ability to adequately respond to the concerns of the readers, both research and business proposals must pass a feasibility test. A feasibility test makes an attempt to provide surety that the solution that is proposed related to a given proposal can be easily, cheaply and accurately enacted (Flick, 2002).

Differences

The first difference that exists between business proposal and formal research is of purpose. This means the purpose for which the formal research is conducted is different from the purpose for which business proposal is presented. Formal research can be conducted for a number of purposes.
