Tacit Knowledge and Explicit Knowledge

Tactic knowledge is the knowledge which is difficult to state by using formal language. Tactic knowledge is learning from the personal experience. Factors such as beliefs, own perspective and values are part of the tactic knowledge (Collins, 2010). It shows that all the learning from personal experience is known as tactic knowledge. Tactic knowledge is referred to images that people have of reality and visions of the future, i.e., it refers to the perception of individuals about “what” and “what should be.”

Whereas, explicit knowledge is opposite to the tactic knowledge, i.e. it can be expressed through formal language. It includes the grammatical statements, manuals, specifications, etc. It also includes mathematical expressions, specifications, etc (Dierkes, 2003). It is mainly the knowledge which one gets from their schools, colleges, universalities, different websites, blogs, books, social networking web pages, etc. It can easily be transferred from one person to another. Explicit knowledge refers to the knowledge, which could be transmitted, and expressed in a formal and systematic way. Explicit knowledge represents only the tip of the iceberg: “We know more than we can say.”

Use of blogs, wikis, and social networking technologies in organizations

The best way to transfer information on a mass level is through the internet. There are several ways of spreading the information to the right audience. The benefits of using these technologies are that the right information is spread among the right target audience.
