Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to conduct the assessment of psychological tests relating to managerial issues, professional ethics and labor laws. There is a great importance of using psychology tests by employers. These days psychological test is considered to be a big business. It has become an industry, and in 2009 the personality testing had become a history of almost $500 million. As per the estimated statistics, 92% of employers in United Kingdom use the psychological testing for managerial issues, professional ethics and labor laws. According to the Association of Graduate Recruiters, the number of companies using psychology tests for the assessment and different managerial issues is continuously increasing.

Discussion

The use of personality or psychology test is increasing day by day. There are great number of organizations preferring psychology tests as the part of their recruitment and human resource related processes. The different critiques of psychology tests claim that these tests cannot be considered to be reliable tests as they cannot give accurate results and cannot accurately predict the job performance. According to Frederick P. Morgeson, the personality of a person can be better claimed to be a predictor of job performance. As per the different professors, these tests do not give the accurate results and thousands of employers are suffering from the serious limitations of these tests (Barney 1998).

Psychological tests are the tests which have been designed to gain knowledge about the thinking of a person, his learning and feelings. It is a very important and supportive test in order to understand the ways through which human beings interact with the world. Psychological testing can be used through different manners. There are various situations in which psychological testing can serve to be a better indicator (Schmitt 1997). This test has great importance in management of the organizations. Different organizations use the psychological tests for different purposes. Most of the organizations use psychological tests for their recruitment related functions. Psychological tests are considered to be one of the important factors which can be helpful in better decision making. Psychological tests can help an organization to understand and develop the spectrum of HR processes by selecting a perfect candidate in order to fill a position (Ryan 1998). It also helps the companies in proper identification of gaps and placing more focus on training efforts on different areas in which development is required. The psychological tests are also effectively used by the companies for the proper assessment of training assessment and workshops through the usage of pre and post-test of each employee.

The psychological testing is also helpful for the employers in reducing the surprises while making decision of hiring the key people. The psychological tests can be better used in order to identify that which candidate can better fit in the company. The psychological tests also help the companies in assessing the potential of a candidate in the growth of the organization.
