Birth of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was born around 4-8 B.C to the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem. They had come to Bethlehem from Nazareth on account of a census order by the roman emperor Caesar Augustus. On their arrival they had not been able to find any sort of lodging and hence Jesus was born in a manger. A manger is a place where animals are kept and this joint served as the humble birth-place for Jesus Christ. The heavenly angel had informed Mary of this gift:"The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. - Luke 1:27-35 (NIV).
