The Role of E-Government in Enhancing the Administrative Body of UAE

Abstract

This research paper gives a thorough outline of the idea of E-Governments and their roles in revolutionizing the systems of government that are currently operation. It also states that in the event of any initiatives of E-Government to be successful there is a requirement of developing confidence and public trust for the promotion of participation and diffusion. This outline or framework shall strive for the promotion of a shift towards electronics of all the services offered by the Government in the time span of the following three years. A very essential part of the strategic framework is using the infrastructure of the national id management that currently exists as well as the creation of a federated id management system that is owned by the Government for the promotion of Government-to-Citizen (G2C) E-Governments transactions, all the while inculcating a sense of confidence and trust over the Internet.

The ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) have had a huge impact on the manner of business, people and government's interactions with one another. The fast acceptance and use of the Internet, broadband and mobile telephone networks show how effective the technology is. Even now, this ICT is taken as the basic foundation of the digital economies and modern societies (Castells, 2009; Varian et al., 2005). However, this extra-ordinary speed at which all the countries of the world depends on the readiness of a variety of factors in both the political and social environments (Gauld & Goldfinch, 2006; Loader, 2009; OECD, 2009).

Modern technologies have exhibited their possibilities of threatening the economic relationships and power settings that currently exist (Beer, 2011; Nixon & Koutrakou, 2007). Many use of the ICT in the last half century have exhibited a huge potential for transformation as well as its use in the form of an essential tool for the organization of dissent in politics all over the world (Hirschfeld, 2012; Reddick, 2010; Serageldin, 2011).

From the perspective of the government, the E-Government is fast showing itself to become a unanimous task. It deals with the facilitation of the government operations and distributing the governmental services and information. The final aim of the E-Government is the ability to offer a variety of public services to the denizens of its city in a cost effective and efficient way. The advantages expected from e-Government are inclusive of improved services, efficiency, more accountability and transparency as well as public service accessibility (Atkinson & Castro, 2008).

Problem Statement

The paper shall assess a variety of effects that have arisen from the implementation and development of E-Government programs in the UAE.
