Compare and compare term paper "The Yellow Wallpaper" vs. "The article of an Hour" The Yellow Wallpaper "by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and" The article of an "hour by Kate Chopin, are alike in that two women in the stories have been controlled by their husbands which led them to feel an strong yearn for freedom. Both stories were written from a feminist perspective. However, women in the stories had different life changes and different responses to their own liberty as a result of this change.

In both stories the woman's husband has direct control over their lives. In "The Yellow Wallpaper" the narrator's married man controlled her both brain and physically. He did not allow him to have any kind of mental or physical stimulation. It is virtually a prisoner in her room, ostensibly to allow him to rest and recover his health. It is forbidden to work and not even supposed to write. She did not even have a say in the location or decor of the room, she is forced to spend nearly the same time in. In addition, visitors are absolutely not allowed. She said: "It's so annoying not to have guidance and companionship of my work ... but he said he would soon put fireworks in my pillow case of letting these people boost about now "(Gilman 635). Ms. mallard in "The Story of An Hour" faced the same sort of affliction. Her husband had control over his "body and soul". She felt that he lived his life for her and for "do not believe anyone had the right to impose a private will upon a fellow creature" (Chopin 13).
