School Bullying

Introduction

In recent years there has been much awareness about bullying in schools, and while it may seem that intimidating to increase, I suspect that there are only minor changes in the amount of bullying that happens at school.

Bullying is a general term applied to a model of behavior where one person with a lot of internal anger, resentment and aggression and lack of interpersonal skills chooses to displace their aggression on another person, chosen for their vulnerability to a bully, using the tactic of constant criticism, nit-picking, exclusion, isolation, teasing, etc(www.nasponline.org). When called to account, abuse of the child, usually demonstrated denial - counterattack - feigning victim response to evade responsibility, often with success. Child bullies are adept at manipulating the perception of adults, especially adults who are inexperienced or who have low EQ. There's usually one person who is the ringleader of the gang.

REASONS FOR BULLYING

Frustration

A child is violated in some way and frustration and resentment, as the source of their difficulties were not identified - problems can include deafness, dyslexia, autism, allergies, being a lefty, undiagnosed PTSD or some unidentified learning difficulties (www.childrensmentalhealthmatters) - Nevertheless, the child must perform at the level required in school and no attempt is made to determine the source of frustration.

Child is being bullied

Responsible adults have repeatedly failed in their duty of care, so that the child slowly and reluctantly begins to exhibit aggressive behavior, because it's the only way to survive in this climate entrenched bullying.

Poor or no role models A child does not play any role models at home or a bad role model for one or both parents and never had the opportunity to learn behavior skills.
