Share Jesus without Fear and Conspiracy Of kindness

Introduction

In this paper we will review two books “Conspiracy of Kindness” by Steve Sjogren and “Share Jesus without Fear” by William Fay. From these books we will review the nature of witnesses and how to witness. I have read many books on evangelism and haven't found a one-size-fits-all version yet. But “Share Jesus without Fear” by William Fay and Steve Sjogren “Conspiracy of Kindness” are at the top of the list because these books had so many useful features. It was easy to read and very practical. I have used this format or something similar to it many times when sharing the Gospel.

Critical Review

In the book “Share Jesus without Fear” Fay starts with a section on overcoming your fear. Most people, myself included, are fearful about evangelism and could use some encouragement and training to get started. His main theme is that if you share the Gospel you have been obedient to God. The results are up to him. But are you going to be a Christian who talks about sharing the Gospel or one who actually shares the Gospel?

William Fay skillfully communicates a new measurement for success to an American church audience that has been influenced by societal measures rather than biblical standards. Fay's measurement for success in personal evangelism is not in the result, not in the number of conversions or the method of communication but instead rests on Christians being vocal and active in sharing their faith. In an American culture where society tracks success with graphs and charts measuring sales, units produced and measurable results, Fay's message is an encouragement to Christians who, he says, must understand that their biblical evangelistic responsibility is simply to share while trusting God to bring His desired result.

Fay had quite a colorful background before he became a Christian. He comes across as very authentic and as someone who practices what he preaches. He suggests a very conversational style of sharing the Gospel, using questions to see where people are at spiritually and where God is working in their lives. Then, after asking permission, the focus is on using Bible verses to share the Gospel and letting the Holy Spirit do the work to change their hearts. There are many people who aren't ready to hear it, so if you discern that is the case you can back off and save it for another time or for another person to share it when the time is right.

Fay ends his book with a faith sharing assignment in the appendix. Pastors, teachers and leaders who skip over this assignment will miss out on a terrific opportunity to give their students a powerful laboratory experience that will encourage them to continue using their new skills and reaching others for Jesus Christ.

On the other hand "Servant evangelism" is transforming the Church's understanding of how to evangelize in the book “Conspiracy of ...
