Smartphones provide all the options and features of a simple mobile, that is, the ability to receive and send calls and receive and send messages. Apart from the normal mobile features, smartphones offer innumerable options for its users including music players, video players, internet and other software that can view and edit many file types. Smartphones have many different abilities. Smartphone, in its basic configuration, can be used for phone calls, checking e-mails and surf the web. However, it has been technologically modified enough to be used for the purpose of playing games, listening to songs, watching videos, capturing videos and still pictures and much more. The popular smartphone operating systems are now the iPhone OS (Apple), Android (Google) BlackBerry OS (RIM), Windows Mobile (SM) and S60 (Symbian). These OS allow users to install third party applications that suit their individual needs. Smartphones provide users with instant access to the Internet. This means that many things that were usually associated with a desktop or personal computer can now be done on a small mobile device that is carried around everywhere by the user. Many mobile phones in North America are now quickly being obsolete and are replaced by the advanced mobile devices called the Smartphone. (Schneidawind, 2004, pp 02)
