Introduction

Significance of Problem

The study is related to the social science which is an important concept to understand. Within the social science, there are various phenomena which are crucial; for instance, this study focuses on the difference in the salaries of female and male employees, the likelihood of increasing safety issue within the company for female and male employees, and the length of employment and the salary of employees are related with each other. Questions that will be explored in the paper focus on examining the salary structure of male and female employees in contemporary organization. Research is limited to three dimensional factors that are related to the above stated problem. These include examining the salaries differences, duration of employment in the salary differences of males and females. One additional question related to these two factors focus on addressing the preference for safety issues among male and females.

Research Problem Analysis

Main objective is to determine to what extent changes in the salary structure of male and female influence their attitude towards safety in workplace. Discrimination is a significant problem in contemporary workplaces. Main difference is observed in the salary and compensation packages offered by the company to male and female employees. It is necessary to assess to what extent male and female employee's preferences to safety issues are influenced due to different salary structure offered to them. In this context, it is essential to consider the role of employment duration on the salary benefits offered by the company to male and female employees.

Research Questions

- Is there any evidence that female and male employees vary in the salaries?

- Is there any evidence that female and male employees vary in the likelihood of increasing safety issue within the company?

- Is there any evidence that employees' length of employment within the company and salary are related?

H 1: Female and male employees vary in the salaries.

H 2: Female and male employees vary in the likelihood of increasing safety issue within the company.

H 3: There is significant relationship between the employees' length of employment within the company and salary.

The variables that are used in the study are mentioned below;

Gender = Gender of the respondents.

Q 1: Have you ever raised a safety issue with your company?

Q 2: How long have you worked with this company?

Q 3: How much did you earn (£) last year (including bonuses and overtime)?

Discussion of Scientific Method

Scientific method of the proposed research begins with formulating question for examining the wage differentials for men and women. The difference in wages between men and women is observed due to unequal distribution of men and women in certain professions and industries), occupations and activities (vertical segregation), and the low level of skills requirement that involve women (Heinze, 2009).
