Sociological Research

Introduction

Characteristic of sociological research is to seek, to formulate laws and generalizations of phenomena occurring between humans. Sociological studies play an important role in society. They uncover the hidden problems of which the public has not yet unaware. If you are a social problem is a public, i.e. public is aware of its existence, sociological research can play an important role in determining the nature of the problem closer. They can get coverage, locations, social events, to determine which social groups or regions of the country are particularly affected by them, etc., or aim to further specify the mechanisms of action by which this phenomenon occurs. Research may be deliberately targeted for disclosure or more detailed knowledge of the social problem or to find measures to solve it. But often it is important not only to establish a social issue, but also to give his diagnosis. The purpose of a diagnostic test is to determine whether or how often in the study population is a phenomenon. For the researcher or the client is a major practical reasons - social and yet somehow describable, or give to explain in theoretical terms. Investigations often focus on social issues. Diagnosis of the social problem is then that describe the state of things which, being a declaration of distances between the desired and actual state, it allows both the theoretical interpretation of the status quo.

Sociological Researches are Empirical Studies

Sociological researches are normally categorized as empirical studies, because the studies are important in the experiment of certain variables that may be present in a society. These variables are tested on the basis of their significance with the treads that are established in a society or a social framework. Independent variable is experimented while considering dependent variables and includes the assessment of cause and effect relationship between the two (Bulmer, 1984).

Research Methodologies

The choice of methods and techniques of research is influenced by many factors. The most important are:

Type of object of study - whether these phenomena are subjective or objective;

The type of data analysis - whether it is a quantitative analysis or qualitative;

The scope of the test of reality - is subjected to a test item, test, or the entire population.

At this point I would like to make a distinction between the terms "method", "technique" and "research tool". The method is reproducible and effective way to solve the general problem of the research. In this term refers to consciously apply the treatment, which aims for a particular purpose under the circumstances. While the technique is to detail the performance of a given type of research tasks, a collection of materials and is part of the method. The tools are closely linked to the way of collecting information and data on which to verify the working hypotheses and operational research problem.

Experiments

It is imperative that sociological researches are empirical, there are two categories of established groups in empirical studies. As we have discussed earlier there is an assessment ...
