Stakeholders Influence on Programs

Introduction

The stakeholders are an important asset in the context of any program or project. The projects are in the control of these stakeholders as they can influence all the activities. There are some expectations of the stakeholder that need to be catered, for keeping them satisfied. The paper discusses a society that needs a change. A funding institution needs to raise funds to meet the needs and expectations of the groups existing in the society, to change its falling structure.

Stakeholders

A person or organization with an influence or interest in a project is called a stakeholder. A stakeholder can be the sponsor of a project. The investors, employees, government, customers, suppliers, and owner(s) are all types of stakeholders (Kippenberger, 1996).

Stakeholder's Needs and Expectations

The stakeholders are the asset of a project. They have a control and influence on the overall processes of any project. There are certain needs and expectations of the stakeholders.

To be kept informed about the project activities, from the initial stage to the final stage.

To be explained with the benefits of their participation in the project.

To keep informed with the progress and high level issues of the project.

To be informed about the changes, if occurred in the project.

The needs and expectations are in the form of the benefits that the stakeholders wish to receive. They can be financial or as a supportive role. The requirement is to identify all the satisfaction attributes of the stakeholders (Mehmet, 2008).

The stakeholders have a high control and power over the program. They can influence the decision making process and the organizational objectives. The stakeholders that have high power and interest are the key players, so it is good to consider them at the highest priority. If the interest is a bit low than it is better to keep the stakeholders satisfied, and the ones with low level of power but high interest need to be communicated on a regular basis. The stakeholders with low interest and power can be taken lightly by dealing them accordingly. It can be simply said that it is necessary to keep the stakeholders satisfied so that they can support the program with positive influence. If the stakeholder, especially the investors are not satisfied and the organization fails to meet the expectations, they can withdraw or create hindrances for the organizational processes (Baron, 2009).
