Introduction

The purpose behind this report is to critically assess the link between strategic operations and the business strategies at Saxon leather, to critically appraise issues related to the organizations processes, layout and types of technologies and how the organization exploits the value chain and quality. In the end I will give recommendations and make my conclusion. To begin with I will give a brief introduction to Saxon Leather.

Operation strategies can be best understood as how organizations make and deliver their products, and also ensure they are delivered on time. Each process associated with the creation of the product till it is delivered to the customer is part of the operations of the company. Since providing good products increases customer satisfaction companies are willing to develop a lot of time and effort in mastering the whole process effectively (Anonymous, 2007).

Saxon Leather is considered to be one of the most leading leather upholstery, every piece of furniture that they create is custom made according to the customer's choice and preferences. Their mission is to provide the best furniture at a competitive price. for its customers situated within the United Kingdom and Saxon is so confident over the superior quality of work it does that it offers full payment back if the customer is not satisfied. Customers can also design their furniture according to their styles online and the manufacturing department will replicate the exact design in order to create for the customers what they desire. Saxon follows a western theme design in its furniture and the items are carefully packaged during transportation the customer receives good quality. Saxon has also implemented various strategies in order to reduce costs and make the products available at a competitive price. Saxon has a major aim of reducing costs during production and bringing more efficiency by implementing new methods and for raw material they locate some of the most cost effective materials that can be used for the furniture. In a nutshell, the key strategic operations at Saxon include provide the most exceptional furniture to their customers at a competitive price (Slack et al, n.d).

Effective and successful companies ensure that their operation strategies are aligned with their operation strategies for the purpose of ensuring greater customer satisfaction. In order to assess if Saxon has been able to successfully align their operational strategies with their business ones it is important to understand what business strategies are in the first place.
