Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) was an encryption algorithm designed to provide wireless security for users applying 802.11 wireless networks. WEP was developed by a assembly of volunteer IEEE members. The objective was to offer security through an 802.11 wireless mesh while the wireless facts and numbers was transmitted from one end topic to another over wireless waves. WEP was used to fight back wireless connection from eavesdropping (confidentiality), avert unauthorized access to a wireless mesh (access control) and avert tampering with transmitted messages (data integrity).
