Teen Depression

Depression is one of the most common diseases in American people and specially the teens, however, very often, and is believed to be not recognized in adolescents. It is therefore possible that a large number of adolescents suffer from depression, not getting any help on the road.

The main symptom of depression among teenagers is grief. In addition, teenagers suffering from depression develop extreme irritability. Additional symptoms include decreased interest in usual activities, changes in appetite, weight changes, sleep problems, fatigue and feelings of worthlessness and concentration problems. Suicidal tendencies among these young people may also increase (Brown, 2006).

The reasons that lead teenagers to commit suicide has a broad, since some common situations and circumstances that seem to lead to such extreme action. These include dissatisfaction, denunciation, disappointment and failure, or failure such as a break with a friend who is not a critical success in the exam, or to see a family disorder. Since the vast majority of adolescents age who commit suicide with mental confusion, and they are not able to perceive what is the problem and that their lives may change. They are unable to understand that suicide is not a lasting solution to their problem (Blumenthal, 2006). Prominent causes of suicide are in fact the initiators of suicide. Mental and substance-related disorder in connection with specific genes that normally affect those who eventually commit suicide, run in families.

Along with irritability, symptoms necessary for diagnosis of depression are the same for young people and adults. But there are some differences in symptom patterns. For example, most young people with depression also have some physical complaints and symptoms of separation anxiety. They also complain of vague gastrointestinal symptoms and headaches.
