Introduction to the program

The student of English as a foreign language are taught English language with designed programme for the development of fluency of English together with the general curriculum. This programme is designed on the basis of intsurctional theory wichi is adequeatley supported in order that the student can learn to read, write and speak English with fluency in a short period of time (Braine, 2005).

Over 20 percent of students in Universities in Saudi Arabia come from families that do not speak English as their primary language. Another 43 percent students come from a background whereby they are not proficient in English (Mora, 2009). These people need a program designed specifically to meet their language learning needs.

Description of the People Involved

The teachers of the English Language Development Program are people residing in the US and associated with the profession of teaching for the past 5 years. This criterion has been developed with the point of view that experiences teachers will be better able to achieve the program objectives than any other teacher who is relatively fresh. Hence, the incumbent hired for the position of teacher for the three instructional program discussed in later sections of the report have specialized training in the field (Learn It, 2010).

Description of Students

The learners for this course are university students living in Saudi Arabia. In this case, the students from universities learn English as a foreign Language. Their primary language is Arabic. These are people belong to the age group of 20-25 years. These pople live in different cities of Saudia Arabia who are studying in universities. They are good at their native language but they do not have a very strong inclination towards English. Since, these people belong to the age group of 20-25, they are the ones who have passed their primary education. They completed their 12 years of education. These students are learning English during their bachelors programme (Braine, 2005).

Since, these individuals are keen to complete their education, they do like their schools. These students have keen interest in taking course to develop their learning skills so that they can compete in their professional career. As companies in Saudia Arabia prefer people who are proficient in international language.

Tools for English Learning

The programme includes speaking and reading session. The students are assigned with reading tasks. These students are asked to read in English. For the xplanation of the meaning the teacher use English language and at times when it is difficult for student to understand the meaning the teacher explaine them in Arabic. Togther with reading, students are given a topic to discuss with fellows and teacher. With this discussion, they are able to develop their speaking fluency together with the grammatical structures.

During the calss student will be shown some English movies with English and Arabic subtitles, so that they are able to learn the English, relating to that ...
