Purpose Statement

People use the abbreviation in texting, which may become a threat to traditional English language.

Introduction

In this paper, the differing perspectives presented on the concept of using abbreviations in texting been discussed. In one article, the author has presented the negative aspects of using the abbreviations in text messages, whereas, on the other hand, in the other article the author presents us with some of the positives of the use of the abbreviations in text messages. The concepts of the authors been presented in this paper, and a general view about the use of abbreviations in text messages been established. This essay compares and contrasts both the articles, and analyzes the positive and negative aspects mentioned by each writer in their articles regarding the use of abbreviation while sending text messages. Two articles have the same topic of the relationship between texting and formal language, but authors argue their contradictory opinions from different aspects. Furthermore, the essay explains how the use of abbreviations in texting, especially by teen agers, poses as a threat to traditional English language.

Thesis Statement

Though the use, of abbreviations has negative aspects, as well as, positives aspects, yet the negative aspects of the use of abbreviations in text messages far outweigh the positive aspects a poses a threat to the traditional English language.
