The paper also incorporates two specific concepts that are being learned throughout the course.

The Fellas: Overcoming Prison and Addiction is one of the master pieces of Charles Terry. It highlights one of the key issues pertaining in the United States Societies. Charles Terry, through this story, has tried to create awareness regarding the importance of helping the drug addicts to overcome this addiction and became a normal member of the society. Terry does this by performing a powerful study over the obstacles that these drug addicts face. The work by Charles Terry is thoroughly researched and based on a sound theory. The book covers how criminal policy and behavior is shaped by the reaction of society towards drugs and addiction.

Terry's attitude of expressing is so strong that it brings hope to all the fellas. Terry not only reflected the path how these fellas have become addict, but at the same time, raises their ongoing struggle with addiction. Terry follows the story of “the fellas” as they beat the odds, get clean, and try to make a better life for themselves. And, he tells the somber story of those who are not able to overcome the obstacles of drugs and prison.

The book; “The Fellas”, relates to Charles's own story. Charles M Terry is also famous to be known as a “convict criminologist”. In the United States, convict criminologists are a small group of practitioners and academics who have spent some time incarcerated within the state penitentiaries of the country. The government war on drugs resulted in the imprisoned of most of these convicts. In the book, along with his own story, Charles discusses about twenty other ex-convict dopefiends. Charles's aim to discuss all these in the book is to raise the issues of criminalization, incarceration and effects of criminal justice policies in the United States. The subjects for discussion for Terry in the book are men. Terry focuses on men who are addicted to drugs due to this addiction, struggling with various degrees of success.
