Introduction

Amy Tan Kitchen God's Wife wrote about his mother, Daisy. Most of the stories of Winnie the novel Daisy of nature, including the difficult life and marriage remained in the pre-communist China. The presentation of the history of Winnie, she tells her story in the Pearl of oral tradition. Tan, like Pearl, had never thought of her mother's life in China, and was impressed with what he learned.

Plot Overview

Kitchen God's Wife opens the narrative voice of Pearl Louie Brandt, daughter of a Chinese mother and Chinese-American father, a professional life of a therapist in San Jose. Pearl's mother, Winnie Louie, Pearl asked Pearl request to ask her daughter to attend a cousin's involvement on the part of Pearl in San Francisco. Now, Pearl believes that the reluctance of his mother because she is more complex in their American identity, perhaps as a result of her marriage to Phil, an American of Chinese origin. However, he feels an obligation to take part in the celebrations of his family, and he knows he would feel guilty otherwise. Then, two days before the party's participation, Pearl receives another call from his mother told him that Aunt Du is dead and the funeral will be held the next day after attending the party (Caesar, Pp: 164-74). Therefore, all on his shoulders, Pearl set for San Francisco with her daughters, Tessa and Cleo, and her husband.

After returning to his childhood home, Aunt Pearl, Helen, the baby's mother, who co-owned a flower shop with her mother pearl, pearl away and made a request.
