The Longitudinal Study: The Effects of Meditation on IQ

Introduction to Research Topic

Mediation is, given credit for assisting people in reducing their anxiety, increasing focus and energizing an individual but the question is whether these benefits can be measures. Advances in the technology of medical imaging has opened up way for studies done in more detail, that are changing the way we understand the effect of mediation on neutralized behavior.

There are various basic effects that have been found through scientific studies in the past that show the profound affect and influence of mediation on the concept of neurophysiology. It has been claimed that mediation relieves stress, lessens anxiety, increases focus and increases relaxation. It has also helped those in depression, who have apparently improved greatly due to it. The proofs are, examined to assess the benefits of Mediation on the mind and in improving intelligence. There is limited literature available on researches of the relationship between mediation and high level of IQ. Students of Universities who frequently practice mediation have shown significant increases in their IQ levels over a period of two years, in comparison to control subjects. To confirm these claims longitudinal studies should be, carried out as no such experiment has been, conducted and this type research could open new dimensions to this hypothesis.

Meditation and Intellect (IQ)

According to limited literature found based on researches on the relationship between mediation and high level of IQ, students of Universities who frequently practice mediation show significant increase in their IQ levels over a period of two years, in comparison to control subjects. For confirmation of these claims longitudinal studies should be, carried out as no such experiment has been, conducted and this type research could open new dimensions to this hypothesis. Findings from longitudinal studies could then support the results of other researches as well, which also show increased levels of IQ in those students who have a history of mediating (Jedrczak, A.et al. 1985). It is, claimed that mediation relieves stress, lessens anxiety, increases focus and increases relaxation which results in higher IQ. It has also helped those in depression, who have apparently improved greatly due to it. Advances in the technology of medical imaging has opened up way for studies done in more detail, that are changing the way we understand the effect of mediation on Health, Immunity, Autonomic Nervous System Changes, Cognitive Function, Memory, Increased Creativity, Intellect, Self Esteem and Ageing.

Research, Design and Theory on Meditation and Intellect (IQ)

A study will be, conducted over a period of two years for which participants will be, enrolled. They will then, be divided into two control groups; one will be given training on mediation and the other not. By conducting this experiment over a span of two years their behavior, activities and intellectual capacity will be, evaluated and assessed. Every quarter if a year they will be, given an assessment to test the differences they have ...
