Survey Findings

Question 1

The first question enquired the feelings of participants towards the current overall situation in Egypt. From the results it can be seen that the mean was 3.01, the median was 3.00 and the mode was 3.00. This shows that the overall feeling of participants towards the current overall situation in Egypt was negative. The equal values of mean, mode and median represents the accuracy of the result.

Question 2

The next question enquired whether the participants' were considering migrating from Egypt. From the results it was found that the mean was 1.49, the median was 1.00 and the mode was 1.00. Although the frequency shows that the result was 50 percent no and 50 percent yes, the values of mean, median and mode are close to 1. This shows that the overall response was yes and people are considering migrating from Egypt.

Question 3

When the participants were asked about their participation in the protests of Jan25-Feb11, 135 out of 224 participants said no and the rest said yes. The mean, median and mode of the findings were 1.40, 1.00 and 1.00 respectively, which shows that the overall findings are inclined towards “no”. Thus, the majority of the participants did not participate in the protests of Jan25-Feb1.

Question 4

The next question enquired the participants' participation in protests after the fall of Mubarak. From the results it can be seen that the mean was 1.31, the median was 1.00 and the mode was 1.00. This shows that the overall response was negative, meaning that the majority of the participants did not participate in any protests after the fall of Mubarak.

Question 5

The next question enquired whether the participants' participated in any protests before the revolution. From the results it was found that the mean was 1. 12, the median was 1.00 and the mode was 1.00. This shows that the overall response inclined towards “no”. Thus, the findings show that the majority of the participants did not participate in any protests.

Question 6

When the participants were asked if they had membership in any political party, organization or a movement, the majority of the response was 'no'. The mean, median and mode of the findings were 1.567, 1.00 and 1.00 respectively, which shows that the overall findings are inclined towards “no”. Thus, the majority of the participants did have membership in any political party, organization or a movement.

Question 7

The next question enquired whether the participants' were a member of any political organization before the revolution. From the results it was found that the mean was 1. 28, the median was 1.00 and the mode was 1.00. This shows that the overall response inclined towards “no”. Thus, the findings show that the majority of the participants were not members of any political organization before the revolution.
