ABSTRACT

This research focuses on tourism sector in Nepal. The main aim of research is to find out the tourism opportunities in Nepal. The researcher also aims to find out the SWOT analysis of the tourism sector. Here the researcher have done deep study for the topic and also found the economic impact of tourism. The affect of government policy on tourism has also been discussed. In this research, secondary research method will be used to analyze the data collected.

Study Background

Tourism sector is an important sector for economy of Nepal. People travel to Nepal for various reason. Nepal is a country of raw and unique beauty and people enjoy visiting Nepal. Nepal is full of ancient and beautiful monument to attract the visitors.

The Problem

Tourism contributes a major chunk to Nepali economy. Even though the political situation is improving day by day still the figures of incoming tourist is not increasing much. Hence in this research the researcher will find out the basic problems for low rate of tourism in the economy and how is affects the economy too.

Research Questions

This research aims to answer the following question

What are the government policies to promote tourism in Nepal?

What are the economic impacts of tourism?

What are the famous places in Nepal?

What is the SWOT analysis of tourism sector?

Significance of the Study

This study is very important as through this study new doors would be opened for future research on tourism. The tourism sector of any economy has high importance and through this research tourism sector will be analyzed properly and give more accurate results.

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW

What is tourism?

There are basically six definitions of tourism found from academic resources like journal article and textbooks. In all these definitions the pros and cons of tourism is discussed in detail. The six definitions are discussed below.

According to leiper (1979) the aspects of leisure time behavior and its consequence because of temporary trips away from the home environment and which are motivated exclusively by a concern for recreation matters.
