Veterans Administration Mission Statement

Introduction

Organizational behavior plays a crucial role in the development and success of the organization. The group dynamics, motivation, and cohesion among colleagues foster the organizational harmony and help the organization in achieving its goals. I have selected Veterans Administration Medical Center as our firm and will be assessing the role of organizational behavior in the service given to veterans. As a Veteran myself, with 20 years of active duty service, I have an understanding of the expectations of veterans from the health care service providers. The veterans after fighting for the freedom of their country expect some comfort when they get home. Some of them have developed disabilities and some suffer from post-traumatic stress. The government provides direct health care services through the veteran's medical centers. The veterans are enrolled and priorities for the need of medical attention (Panangala, 2006). There have been numerous reports by the veterans for the poor service provided at some medical centers. At some medical centers, veterans have infected by HIV, while others place reports of unsanitary conditions are commonly reported. Our focus of study has been on the behavioral experiences and complaints reported by veterans.

Problem Statement

There have been reports of poor service provided to the veterans (KMOV, 2011). In our firm, Veterans Administration Medical Center, we have observed behavioral complaints from veterans, and they have reported that the staff routinely overlooks their requests. The staff ignores the requests and is habitual to passing the responsibility to others which results in the frustration of the veterans. As a military person, veterans are accustomed to strict discipline and treatment and environment of the medical center is far from disciplined. The individual behavior influences group behavior of all staff. The collective staff behavior results in the organizational behavior of the medical center. It is necessary to study the individual behaviors of the staff as it will reveal the true reasons for the neglect shown to the veterans. Another noteworthy aspect is the individual characteristics of the veterans. It is very difficult to influence the behavior of the veterans as it has strengthened and it has aggravated by the experiences of the war. Our study is, therefore, focused on the behaviors of the staff. The veteran services have received added attention due to the prolonging of the wars in the Middle East.

Research Question
