Stereotyping is a widespread incident that regardless of its contradictory consequences it extends to live in our society. What is a stereotype? The period has been affiliated with such notions as "myth", "generalizations", "preconceived notions" or "impressions". (Schaefer 2007)
The heritage is replete with contradictory stereotypes about Latinos. Whether it's the "greaser", "bandito", or "macho" stereotype, they are depicted as slovenly, shiftless, lawless, thieving, shameful, or violent. Most of these stereotypes proceed back to the War with Mexico.
