Why do some people cheat in their marriages?

Introduction

Both men and women have been cheating in their marriages ever since the institution was invented. Some studies suggest that anywhere from one third to one half of marriages will experience an episode of infertility at one time or another. Men, in particular, seem to be prone to cheating in their marriages. (Maggie, 543-55)

Some men cheat in their marriage because they don't feel that they have enough intimacy at home. If a man does not feel like his wife wants to have sex with him, the base sexual desire can take over and lead a man to cheat in his marriage. Other men might cheat on their wife because the wife cheated first. He sees it as a way to get revenge for being betrayed by committing the same betrayal. (Maggie 20-43)

Some men are lured away by the challenge and excitement of having an affair. The risk of getting caught alone can push some men to cheat in their marriage. Other men see sexual encounters as a sign of their virility or their manhood, and may go through life, even after marriage, going from one sexual conquest to another. Other men cheat in their marriage as a way to boos their ego. They may feel unappreciated or berated at home, and by engaging in an affair, they feel as though they are desirable. Sometimes, a man will just feel like he doesn't love his wife anymore. If a man feels that he is being nagged, or doesn't enjoy his wife's company, he may cheat. If he is no longer attracted to his wife as she gets older or as her body shape changes, he may lose his attraction for her. (Maggie 20-43)

Explanation

Other people should look out for people wearing wedding bands and respect their marriages. It's just not possible that people just happen to fall in love with people in work or church who are married. (Ellen McCarthy, 61-76).

They must be leaving themselves open to longing gazes and long touches of hands. These should be reserved for your spouse alone. There would be far fewer divorces if everyone would just respect other people's unions. That is a bunch of ignorance, is this really how one look out for our fellow man and show such disrespect and blame it all on the woman in this case? No, one believe the only one not at fault is the woman. No matter what supposing excuse this man has come up with to make him feel better and justify a reason to cheat is not acceptable in my opinion and the disgusting knowing accomplice is ridiculous. To marry one another a woman and man need to have respect for each other. They each must have their own defined identity and prove that when they are together, they matter to each other. People who nit-pick at each other just because it's convenient must eventually find more fault with each other than gratefulness. (Ellen McCarthy, ...
