William Sonoma started its business in 1956 by offering quality cooking and serving utensils. The company started its direct-to-customer channel in 1972 through its flagship catalog, “A Catalog for Cooks” and later on introduced “Hold Everything” catalog that led to the opening of its first retail store, offering modern and elegant storage explanation for home offices and home. Until now, the company has progressed well and started its operation in various products such as home furnishings, furniture, lamps, rugs, window treatments, linens, glassware and dinnerware. The company has set the benchmark by offering new and high quality products in all the categories and has developed a fine brand in the retailer's environment. As the company has introduced new products and targeted the young customers who are design conscious, they have set a trend and are striving to enhance its products by introducing new improved products. The company Williams Sonoma is eager to introduce more products in home offices and culinary equipments so that they emerge as number one in the retail business (Shambora, 2010).

Being the CEO of the William Sonoma, the company should operate its business in all the products efficiently by introducing new, enhanced quality and diversified products. The company should also develop the products that are cost effective so that it will profitable not only for the company but also for the customer. Cost effective strategies should be given prime importance as they are the source of making new customers. Another way of expanding the retail business is to open retail shops as the company is already doing. The strategy of introducing first the catalog and knowing the customer's demand for the product is an effective strategy that provides the idea of the customer's perspective about the new upcoming products. It acquaints the company with the knowledge of new designs that customers want and provides an opportunity to set the trend in its respective business. The launch of company's websites is another strategy that the company can use to enhance its business activity. As the current era is based on information technology, the customers are more comfortable in visiting the company's websites and checking the new available designs. Furthermore, it is more convenient for them to place the order through the websites due to the busy tiring life which save their time and money both.
