Introduction

Wind power is one of the most abundantly available resources that we use with the wind turbines. These resources are continuously developing with the increasing amount of need and are gradually becoming far more effective and cheap in terms of energy. There are a number of wind farms developed strategically in order to avoid jeopardizing the population of birds and their natural environment. The rule behind the Wind power is that the force produced by the wind and water currents is passed via the wind turbine that converts the force energy into electric energy. This paper discusses the use of wind energy and its impact on the U.S economy. It also discusses the storage power and the smart grid characteristics of wind turbine.

Wind energy and Smart Grid

The Smart Grid is an electricity distribution network "smart" that uses information technology to optimize the production and distribution to better to connect the supply and demand between producers and consumers of electricity. The contribution of technology is expected to save energy and secure the network in order to reduce costs. The idea of Smart Grid is often associated with the concept of smart meter (smart meter), capable of providing a billing slot allowing consumers to choose when to eat to obtain the best rates from the various producing companies (Dresselhaus, 2001). Such a system also allows mapping more finely consumption, which is useful to anticipate needs, to more local scales. It is also a response to the need to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases in the fight against climate disruption. According to the Department of Energy United States, if smart grid technologies made the grid America better than 5%, this would mean a saving in terms of emission of greenhouse gas emissions by 53 million cars, and improving the network using these technologies should allow a saving of 46 to 117 billion dollars by 2023.

In the future electricity will not only come from the traditional energy suppliers, but also from plants that generate electricity from renewable sources produce: also from the solar panels on the roof of the family home, or at night with cheap power charged battery in electric cars fed during the day a stream. To coordinate all that and settle, the suppliers need a smart grid. Wind energy has also been exploited quickly by using windmills equipped with sail-shaped blades (Dresselhaus, 2001). These mills use mechanical energy to power various devices. Today, it is the wind that takes the place of windmills.
