British European Airways (BEA) started its operations as British European Airways Corporation. The airline continued its operations from 1946 to 1974, providing excellent services to its customers. The airline ceased its operations as British European Airways in 1974, and merged with British Overseas Airways Corporation to present the flag carrier airline of United Kingdom names as British Airways. With the passage of time British Airways has become the largest UK airline with 225 aircrafts that are serving more than 150 destinations globally. BA is merged with Iberia, which is a flag carrier airline of Spain. Iberia has 183 aircrafts and provides its services in over 120 destinations. This is the main reason of this merger. This merger is benefiting both the airlines BA as well as Iberia in terms of wide share-code system, booking, lounge service, and ground staff. The merger can help British Airways beats their fundamental weakness “Britishness” like having an identity of British might be despised by some European clients and allied with Iberia may will fascinating them. For Iberia, this merger with British Airways can mean picking up access to their tracks and expanding its piece of the overall industry as Iberia used to have an extremely restricted system. Currently British Airways is serving nearly 150 destinations, together with 6 domestic destinations. The British Airways is serving in 6 continents as the same time. British Airways is currently the primary operator of aircrafts Boeing 747-400 series, with around 55 aircrafts in the fleet. British Airways has always tried to facilitate customer by offering first-class services. However, now due to the most recent technological development several other airlines have entered in the airline industry by providing a strong competition to British Airways. Besides all such factors, it is the fact that British Airways considered as a leader in the business of the airline industry.
