Introduction

Family therapist have very important role by developing “nonanxious emotional contact with two most significant family members (usually parents)” (Goldenberg, & Goldenberg, 2011, p.230). There are various theories and models of family therapy FT such as Bowen Family system theory, contextual family therapy, cognitive behavioural FT, Rational emotive behavioural therapy, Stair human validation process model, Milan systemic family therapy, strategic family therapy, etc. These models and theories guide and assist family therapist to play his or her role in dealing with various child psychological issues. Bowen defines family as a variety of systems and subsystems, with emotional and relationship system (Metcalf, 2011, p.48). According to different theories and models for family therapy, it is very essential for the therapist to consider all social, ethical, and moral considerations associated with family therapy. These factors affect more at young and adolescent age, as it is learning and developmental phase, “Family cultural and ethnic backgrounds are also critical to helping to understand the teen and their family” (Neinstein, 2013). It is essential for the family therapist to identify different important perspectives associated with family relations and style while dealing with children with psychological problems.

Discussion

Family therapy is one of the most important concepts associated with psychoanalysis and the medical psychiatric model as treating patients and clients is not possible to be completed in the clinical boundaries (Nichols & Schwartz, 1998). Family style and structure are also very essential aspects during interview, Beavers and Hampton (1990) presented therapist observational scales; one is Beavers Competence Scale (BICS) and other is Beavers Interactional Style (BISS) (Barker & Chang, 2013).
