Axon

Axon is a single extension. Perikaryon originates from an elevation through the axon hillock. They are long, thin, and smooth with a variable length of 200 um to 1 m. The terminal of axon portion outs numerous collateral branches that originates at right angles. Axons consist of four segments which are discussed below:

Implementation or axon hillock

Characterized by lack Nissl corpuscles and the neurotubules and numerous presences of neurofilaments arranged parallel and grouped into fascicles. They go from the soma to the next segment.
