Blood Pressure Responses to Exercise

Introduction

The sample lab test of eighteen participants (fourteen boys and four girls) was examined. The study describes the statistical analysis of blood pressure response to the isometric and dynamic exercises. Age, weight and heights were the determinant variables for this experiment. Blood pressure response was calculated against the isometric and dynamic exercises. Their systolic and diastolic blood pressures (BP) were measured at the intervals of rest and exercise. There is an exponential increase in the blood pressure during isometric exercise. This increase is due to the contraction of muscles which blocks the supply of blood. (Lindhard, 1920). Exercises and blood pressure are coherent to each other. The execution of any physical activity or exercise will raise the blood pressure for a certain time. This pressure will return to the normal when body retains the rest position (Taylor & Beller, 1995). Blood pressure is the pressure of blood exerted against the walls of the blood vessels. It is dependent on the elasticity of arteries, heartbeat strength, volume and viscosity of blood. Cardiovascular factors are not only determinant for this experiment. Physiological factors such as health, age, weight and height are important characteristics.

Method

Gender and Age

The characteristics and level of blood pressure in the findings varies with age, gender and overall kinaesthetic of the person. The percentile charts of blood pressure can be used to detect Body Mass Index (BMI) of male and female participants. Higher value than the stated normal figure is regarded as high blood pressure or hypertension. Aging and nutritional intake plays key part in this regard. These changing levels are also function of weight and height. The average age of male individuals is 23.1 years with the inclusion of a forty year old participated. The literature review discussed that ageing has influential factor of the blood pressure fall in individuals. They show considerable systolic and diastolic blood pressure level in their count. Systolic blood pressure exponentially increase during dynamic exercise which shown normal level in diastolic movement of blood pressure (Palatini, 1998).

Methods of Experiment

The participation of eighteen individuals was carried out in this blood pressure lab test. The patients have been diagnosed in the department of cardiovascular surgery. The control groups used in this experiment were age, gender and weight variables. The instrument used to determine their blood pressure was a customized handgrip unit. It was tied on the ...
