Introduction

In life we have to make a number of decisions. The decisions that we make causes an in depth impact on various other aspects of the life. These impacts are so serious and severe sometimes that they not only affect our lives but they also cause an impact on others on our surroundings. In order to lead a contended life and to manage variegated aspects different philosophers and thinkers began to establish rules, regulation and code of conduct so that it would help people to take rights actions. These rules and codes are often referred as ethical codes. Ethical codes is not only restricted to the decision making and actions of personal lives but these codes are also part of the corporate world.

In order to run the business in a profitable and lucrative way it is essential that businesses should embrace ethical codes of conduct. In business world or in an organization ethical codes are applicable in each and every field from production to marketing and from finance to human resource. Sometimes their strategies and the core values and mission are subject to ethical issues. The aim and objective of this paper is to talk about ethical issue in an organization and discuss variegated perspective of it.

Selected Organization and Ethical Issue in the Organization

The selected organization is McDonalds. The success story of McDonalds starts with Ray Korc story when he sold milk shake mixer that could shake five milk shakes simultaneously to a restaurant in California that was more of a hamburger stand. McDonald brothers ran this stand with the idea of quality, service, cleanliness and value or affordable prices. The same Q, S, C & V eventually became McDonald's mantra when Ray Kroc opened first franchise in 1955. Ray Kroc made note of social and demographic trends in United States. With an increase in disposable income and women workforce also swelling, the concept of a fast-food restaurant that offered quality food at an affordable price caught on with the American people. Kroc emphasized on the casual family atmosphere where people can enjoy their meals in a clean environment coupled with fast and exceptional service. With these social factors and strategies in mind, McDonald's success became phenomenal (Johns, 2003).

Ethical Issue

McDonald became a name to reckon with because it also came up with unique idea and expanded all over the world with the help of franchising that was again another first from McDonalds and this expansion created an ethical issue. All multinationals including McDonald have been the target of those who criticize the expansion of multinationals and globalization. So people are strictly against the globalization of and multinational and have even termed this whole process as the Coca- Colonization of the planet. Some have said that these multinationals are trying to create a McWorld by offering people all over the world the standard and unhealthy Big Macs and fries (Wilkins & Patterson, 1985).
