Introduction

Business Leadership is the skill of getting somebody else to do anything that he wants them to do. In this essay we will discuss the characteristics of the business leadership and what styles a business leader can adopt in order to be a great leader. Furthermore we will have the discussion about the skills that a good business leader should have in his business practice. Personal Leadership Style

As a team leader, I will be making use of both the approaches in my leadership that includes task oriented leadership and relation-oriented leadership. For me, leadership is among those few things that are many times very difficult to define. But in my leadership practice I will know when I will lead my team using relation-oriented approach and task-oriented approach and will certainly know that in what conditions there would be need of maintain good relations with the team and in what conditions, focusing on task will be helpful for carrying the effective business practice (Clarke, 2002). For me, leadership is the procedure that is eventually concerned with developing change. In comparison to the idea of business management, which proposes maintenance and preservation, I think leadership involves a process and has a shift from the current conditions of business to future location of business condition that is out of the ordinary. For me leadership is not the thing that we do, leadership is something that someone is. Leadership also involves intentionally in relation that the indirect change is not by chance that is change for the sake of change, however it is somewhat directed in the direction of any future condition or end, which is innately based on value.

As a team lead, I will be following the definition of leadership in which leadership is defined as relational impact directed toward the accomplishment of goals or a specific goal. From this definition of leadership I will be focusing on three major parts that are impact, relational and goal. In my style of leadership, the term relational will fit in the sense of my relation with my team members, the team members for whom I have been selected as a team lead. I will make use of the part impact in a sense that I will be making use of power in order to affect others, and lastly the goal will be the ending that I will be striving to attain with the cooperation of my team members (Mumford, 2006, pp 5). Mainly, the traditional leadership definition says that a leader inspires more than a single person in order to attain the goal. Depending upon the idea that leadership is related with change, I view myself as a leader mainly like the agent for change in business and my aim for this organization is to promote change.
