Self managed learning involves the processes used by student and life-long learners to identify their needs and develop goals in order to achieve their learning needs. The most important aspect of SML is the identification of one's learning style (Patel, C. & Patel, T. 2006). Knowing about their learning preferences, the students are able to develop an inventory of their skills and the improvements that are required in order to achieve growth in their future endeavors.

Today, the organizations are facing and dealing with new challenges and pressures with the increased results from certain people. Thus, it becomes necessary for the organization to invest in those people in terms of learning and development. It is not necessary that invest heavily on training and development will always produce the same positive results for organizations or individuals. Neither the self learning always integrates the needs of organizations. It is suggested that something different is required to implement in the organization for the effective learning and development.

There should be self directed learning that is used to create a particular situation where learning is owned by the employee and then it is aligned with the needs of an organization. Individuals are accountable for making the decisions regarding work and learning with others co-workers and employers in order to achieve it.

Within SML, there are various aspects that are needed to be put under consideration, while choosing the style of learning. Adult Learning Theory covers a very critical aspect that is significantly related to Self-manage learning. It states that adults are prone towards learning only when they look for any intrinsic value within the learning; means that adults evaluate any learning on cost benefit analysis. Adult learning is completely contrasting to children's learning. Children have empty minds; thus, they can absorb any knowledge and be keen on to learn different things that attracts them. Whereas, adult learning wants reasoning to learn anything, and they seek for benefits that can help them professionally or in any aspect of their lives.

With this aspect, it is need to be put under consideration, while examining self-managed learning that what benefits are there on behalf of learning. All the learning style including activist, pragmatic, reflector and Kolb's learning cycle; are associated with rewards learning that is principally got developed from the basis of operant conditioning in behavioral learning.
