Introduction

The interviewee Mr. Hilton is thirty years old hard working and enthusiastic man. He has done masters in business administration specifically in marketing and sales. He is currently working in IT Company as a Sales Executive. He gets married few months ago which clearly shows the increasing responsibility on his shoulders. He seems to have realistic goals in his life, and he is struggling hard to achieve those goals. The factor of accomplishing something worthwhile is observed in his attitude, which reflects his determination to achieve a high level of performance. The face to face interview approach is used and specifically the questions asked were related to behaviour based and situational based. The behaviour based approach applied in order to determine his attitude in the past happened incidents. This approach is helpful to identify that what behaviour he can exhibit in the similar situations, which he faced in the past. The situational-based interview applied in order to evaluate his attitude, which is likely to occur in the future (Turner, 2000, p.5). The interview questions were related to his career development stage including number of factors such as his capabilities, previous experience, current position, domestic circumstances, financial condition, way of living, and plans for the future (Jackson, 2000, p.7). The structure of career development of any individual can decide his/her present and future life in terms of meaningful gains and benefits (Schmid, 2011, pp.3-4).

The following questions were being asked to Mr. Hilton;

Please briefly introduce yourself. Your age, academic background, and current position/job?

To what extent, you feel that the current job is more suitable and worthwhile than the previous jobs?

Two or three years from now, where would you like to be professionally?

What are the prospects that you will switch a job if you would get a better opportunity to excel in your career?

What changes you feel in your career as compare to past?

What challenges would move you ahead in the future?

Are you satisfied with the extent at which you can fulfill your domestic needs currently?

To what extent, you feel that the current position contributes in making your financial condition better?

Levinson's Life Stage Development

According to Levinson's theory, people go through various stages of life irrespective of their occupation or background. This requires them to adjust psychologically according to the stage in which they currently exist. It represents a person's life structure which is mainly influenced by his/her either social or physical environment. The primary factors which includes; family and work. Other factors include religion, race, and status. Levinson's theory has two concepts;

The time at which a person is involved in making important choices in life. It is referred to as the stable period.

The time at which one stage ends and the next stage starts. It is referred to as the transitional period. This time period can be either difficult or smooth depending on the extent to which a person feels ...
