Introduction

Child development plays an integral role in developing the personality of the child as he grows up. To live a gratifying and momentous life, two areas are very important for individuals. Interpersonal relationships and intellectual capability development define the proper development of a child (Charlesworth, 2010). Researchers are concerned with addressing the issues that lead to stimulating negative behavioural responses in child. Child experiences in early stages of life, relationship with family members, close attachment with parents, and social upbringing affect the behavioural formation of a child which defines the behavioural stimulated responses either positive or negative (Bergin, 2011).

Child development is distributed in multiple dimensions that differ according to context and impact on child behaviour. Numerous things simultaneously influence the mental, physical, and emotional development of the child. Child development is determined according to these three principle dimensions which defines the behavioural consequences of a child as he grows up (Berk, 2008). All these three states interrelated to each other; lack of concern on any of this dimension affect the other two subsequently. Behavioural responses of the child are consequences of experiences he had in his early stages of life. It is essential to address the key areas related to child development that may create potential problems in normal upbringing of the child.

Phases of Development

The first apparent development everyone would observe in an infant is the physical development. This is one of the most crucial child development milestones to look out for. During the first months, the dimension of the infant is very small virtually equal to the size of a forearm. Following the completion of practically four months, the baby's fat will be almost double as compared to at the time of birth. The head of the baby grows more rapidly than the relaxation of the human body. Till the age of 1, the growth is mainly natural, and after that it depends on the diet, diet and genres.

The second of the child development stages is the visual development of the child. New born infants have a very limited vision, as they cannot see outside of 12 inches. After a month, the limit of the vision raises to 3 ft. The infants begin recognizing and distinguishing shades by the age of 9 months (Bergin, 2011). The small toddlers of age around two or three even commence associating hues with their names.

The third phase of child development is Intellectual progress. Intellectual growth once more can be divided into several locations like social, emotional and language. The child does not grow intellectually until he is 4 months previous. The mind of the infant display a huge development in the first calendar year, and also the language capabilities of the infant commence developing from the age of 6 to nine months (Pound, 2005).
