Cohort Model

Introduction

Teacher education programs continually experiment with organizing or grouping students into collaborative learning communities. These groupings are famous by names such as vanguard teams, university centers, peer groups, professional learning communities and cohorts. The term cohort in education is widely considered as a group of candidates by the college or department, usually for a period of no less than two years, where all or the majority of the courses are taken together. It is suggested that defined membership, common goals, and structured meetings over time play a part in the definition and formation of 32 cohorts.
