Introduction

Mobile technologies are the future business commitment, as they allow all members of the enterprise to access relevant information to perform their duties without being enslaved to the cable. Wireless and mobile technology has been advancing at an unparalleled rate, and its impact is being observed in many facets of our daily life. Mobile and wireless systems are currently used in commerce, education, defence, and many high-risk fields, including nuclear power, aviation, and emergency medicine (Malladi,2002,144-146). The technology can be used in home-based and industrial systems as well as in commercial and military environments. When we speak of mobile computing, mobility means having the ability to access online resources and services while moving from one geographic location to another. Prior to the advent of mobile computing, a user accessed online resources through a dial-up modem (which sends and receives information over phone lines), a cable modem (which sends and receives information over the same cable that cable television networks use) or various other wire-based media, including DSL (short for digital subscriber lines) and ISDN (integrated services digital network).

Analysis

Mobile technology is exactly what the name implies a technology that is portable. Examples of mobile devices are the following (Malladi,2002,144-146):

Laptops.

Handheld computers or personal digital assistants

The mobile phones and smart phones "- high-end phones with greater capacity

Global Positioning System (GPS).

Wireless Debit / Credit card payment terminals

Mobile devices may be able to use a variety of communication technologies, such as:

Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) - a type of wireless network located in a particular area.

Bluetooth - connects wireless mobile devices.

"Third generation" (3G), Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) service and the general packet radio service (GPRS) data services - data networking services for mobile phones.

Dial-up services - data network services using modems and telephone lines. Through mobile computing can improve the service offered to its customers, for example, people can use their laptop for a presentation, to transfer PDF files to the customer's computer can connect remotely to the agenda follow-up an appointment.

Alternatively, the compnaies can allow customers to pay for services or goods without having to go to the box. Using handset payment diners can pay for the meal without leaving the desk. There are more powerful solutions that can link directly to the office network while working off-site, for example, to access the database of the business or accounting systems. A compnay could do things like (Kohli,2004,53-68):

Set up a new customer account.

Check Prices and stock availability.

Place an order online.

This leads to considerable flexibility in allowing work work from home or while traveling but it is important to note that there are costs involved in setting up the equipment and training necessary to make use of mobile devices (Kohli,2004,53-68).

With mobile computing, by contrast, users have microwave wireless communication capability, so they can send and receive information online at any time, from any location, and even while moving. The radio, which supports wireless communication, can be connected to any digital device, including laptop computers, personal ...
