Abstract

This paper will analyze different perspectives associated with the concept of caring. This study also provides different definitions and theories associated with the caring and how caring is related to the field of nursing. There is a detailed analysis of concept of nursing social, moral, ethical, and humane perspectives. This paper also investigates different attributes, uses and purpose of caring. Application and practice of caring is also discussed with the analysis of quality in the concept of caring and nursing. The value of caring is very essential in the health and social care as it cost the life of a person or an animal.

Introduction

Caring is a very broad term, and it is associated with the responsibilities and burdens that create a problem for a care provider, in order to deal with different aspects associated with care. For example, caring for another person who is in pitiful condition requires attention and affection from the care provider. Caring not only involves ethical and social concerns, but it also demands devotion and dedication from the care provider (Kirsner, 2001). Therefore, definition of caring fits the profession of nursing that is associated with the practice of giving watchful attention to patients in a very professional way.

Apart from professionalism, nursing also allows to establish “caring partnerships with families and communities” (Hitchcock, et al, 2003, p.8). This description of caring is associated with manifestation of community health, and benefits for the society. Nurses provide care services, for the humanity “through their work with individuals, families, and groups” they also play a major role in formulating the public policy for care (Hitchcock, et al, 2003, p.8). Care is both an emotional state as well as an activity that creates physical and mental exertion for the care provider.

Discussion and Literature Review

Caring science is a field that is evolving in the nursing discipline and other fields like women/feminists studies, education, ecology and peace studies. Caring is a very broad term that is not only associated with the care of patients, but also involves personal care (Neal-Boylan, 2012). Caring is most discussed in nursing although it is not unique to nursing. To add life to something care is required, proper machine functionality must be followed by good regular care.There are anumber of different aspects associatred with the caring and its concept in theoriutical and operational perspectives. Attributes, uses, values, elements, and purpose of caring also assist in defing its concept. Application and practice of caring, further assist in understand its practical implication in nursing and other contexts.
