Creative Teaching

Introduction

Creative teaching is an art of using some unconventional and innovative techniques, in order to make the audience interactive and associated with the topic. Creative teaching refers to appealing or knocking the creative side of a student's brain and brings out the creative part of his personality. For instance, in light of Ginnis (2006) analysis, the fundamental idea behind creative teaching is to make the teaching and learning process more effective and efficient which enhances a teacher's job too. One of the significance of cross cultural curriculum is that it ensures that the students are taking an interest in the courses or topics which their instructors are teaching them. This paper will focus on the cross curricular work in the process of learning in the primary school setting, it will also assess the value of cross curricular and creative approach of teaching.

Discussion

Firstly, I believe that cross curricular learning has a diverse range of application. for example, Calabrese, (2007) conducted a research on the application of cross curriculum learning and it was found that in Primary school setting, cross curriculum learning takes place, when the skills, knowledge and attitudes of various subject areas are applied to a diverse themes, problems or ideas (Calabrese, 2007, p. 65). His idea is justified in the context that cross curriculum learning avoids the monotonous nature of traditional learning and focuses on diverse range of activities like art, and visual analysis to support learning. Therefore, it can be said that cross curricular learning is not set for a specified subject but can be utilized into any area of study to facilitate an interactive learning.

The second significant point is that cross curricular methods are used effectively to make the teaching and learning process more interactive and productive, but still it is in the hands of instructors how they work with the cross curricular practices. However, there are certain requirements that the instructors need to understand. For example, Barnes, (2007) believes that instructors should have two defined skills one is to have the complete knowledge of his own intrinsic and as well as his subject area, secondly they should know the other subject too in order to better combine the two disciplines and make a better understanding for his students (Barnes, 2007, p. 32). Thus it is found that cross curricula teaching requires a comprehensive understanding and training on the part of the instructor.

Thirdly, under cross cultural teaching, I believe that children are motivated when the instructor is able to encourage students to establish into the next stage of reasoning. It requires providing a topic for discussion, listening carefully to the reasoning and developing a balance between making children take decision and challenging them in the ways that show them the limitations of their thinking. Wilson (2009) seconds this thought by emphasizing that “a creative teacher is the one who efficiently generates new ideas, evaluate different teaching approaches, and establish an environment that supports and brings out the creativity in the students ...
