Creative Writing: The Story of Lisa Mayo

This is the story of Lisa Mayo, who had completed her PhD in Physics before marrying Grady Mayo. Let's hear the story from her words to understand the happening. One day, my (Lisa Mayo) kids' daddy Grady Mayo went to church on Easter Sunday along with our three kids Bryan, Brandon, and Brianna. He first drove to Kevin Mayo, his brother, to take him and his son Vashon. At 2' o' clock, afternoon, I called Grady to inquire about his whereabouts. He said: 'Baby, I am on my way back home and will reach in about an hour.' He never came, however. A departed loved one never returns, but love does.

Worried about where he had been, I asked his niece Keily to take me around to see where our family was. Keily and I drove around our neighbourhoods but did not seem to find them. We headed towards Roosevelt. When we were about to return to our home and inform the police, Keily pointed me towards some cars, and said one of them was our maroon coloured Toyota Camry, in devastated condition. At first, I could not recognize but after a long stare I was sure that it was our own car. Near the cars were people and police officers, smoke and chaos. The police had set a yellow tape across the pole. I asked one of the police officers about the panic, and he told me that there was a car accident. Shocked by the incident, I immediately asked whether there were any casualties along the accident. The officer said: 'Surprisingly, not much damage occurred. The accident occurred as Grady Mayo ran the red light and slide into the electric pole head on.' He's the only person who encountered death, the rest are saved.'

Who you said died?' I asked. 'Grady Mayo,' he repeated. A wave of tears ran down my face. I could not believe what has happened. My kids were there, too. I was trying to hold courage to lessen the grief of my kids, but they had witnessed their daddy in a form they had never seen before. Brianna, my four-year-old daughter was crying too, unaware that her daddy had gone to a place where he would never return. I tried to manage myself and control my tears.
