Introduction

There is most likely what a corporate titan that Starbucks has ended up, yet at what costs? Because of the ascent of Corporate Social Responsibility in the media, Starbucks has been an organization under much media examination inside the last couple of years, as have numerous other corporate bigwigs, for example Hershey's, Nike, and Ben & Jerry's. There has been an uprising of moral clash confronting the Starbucks in UK that has affected their economy, as well as their representative resolve. It has had an unfavorable influence on the organization and buyers both here in the Unites States and abroad.

The ethical conflict facing Starbucks in UK is that is the fact that their workers, whose wages start at a mere $2.50 an hour are so low that they cannot even buy themselves lunch. The wages have not increased in eight years there according to one supervisor. There was also concern around healthcare benefits that were not being offered by the 30 Starbucks locations. Due to these unfair conditions, a union was formed to increase the benefits of the Starbucks employees. Obviously due to these conditions, the employee morale could not have been good if they were proposing a strike against the store and had a willingness to walk out unless certain terms were agreed upon. By having wages that were so low and only being offered two free coffees a day, I am positive that the employees felt no sense if purpose or value to the company.

Discussion

Today, consumers, governments, third sector organizations and few investors are in the battle of business policies rooted in a responsibility that goes beyond the borders of their own production. It is aware of the importance of the company as a social and therefore their responsibility to develop local and global society in which it is inserted and nourished. A paradigm awareness process of corporate social responsibility is certainly ecological question. With the rise of communications and, therefore, with the growth of the amount of information and the development of social awareness of dignity, gradually arose a long series of demands that business leaders, with more or less reluctance, began to envision an integral part of social submission and, by way of an inclined plane, will be the subject of an increasingly proactive treatment (Council, & Toze, 2012).

Some examples of these new requirements are the decision not to cooperate with the scourge of child labor and forced labor, respect for human rights of workers in the countries supplying raw materials for industry, the fight against discrimination, etc. Good examples of the growing impact of this decision are many initiatives taken by international agencies and organizations in this regard. Hopefully, this process will continue to the extent that the company continues to maintain its role as co-configuration of social and cultural life.
