Cultural differences are an increasing issue in various organizations all over the world. With respect to mental development centers, it is an even major issue as it is hard to figure out as to what will be effective for the patients with various different cultural backgrounds and what will not be. This in turn is being addressed in this paper in which the affect of cultural differences on the mental development centers is being addressed.

There are various different issues that can arise with respect to cultural difference when considering under the light of a medical development centre. These various issues under that arise under various different scenarios are mentioned as under:

Variation between the culture of a Patient and the Professional

There are various different factors that are involved with respect to treatment of patients with different cultural backgrounds at a mental developmental centre. As the difference can exist in between the cultural background of the patient and of the medical practitioner as well, which can bring changes in the treatment and in the procedure of the treatment as well, depending upon how well does the practitioner understands the culture and the culture related cues of the patient and as according to which the treatment might be conducted by the medical practitioner.

Arise of New & Different Problems

There are many new and different mental problems that are becoming common in between the patients of a country that is accepting international immigrants in a large quantity. These new problems that are occurring include high vulnerability and high risk cases that are mostly related to mental problems of disturbed personalities as of the cultural shocks, different identities, different personalities and these types of mental problems are mostly common in immigrants, undocumented workers, unskilled labor, international asylum seekers, refugees and even international students (Kottak, pp. 1-18).

Methods for Assessments and Testing of Patients

The difference between the procedures or the practices of the treatment can not only be caused as of the differences in the cultural backgrounds of the patient and the practitioner but also as of the differences in linguistics, scales, conceptual understanding and also as of the normative equivalence for the patients being tested and assessed.
