Introduction

Cultural tourism mainly comprises of the tourism that is linked mainly to the urban areas that specifies the large cities of the country holding the historic importance or the historic event that hold an important place in historic timeline (Towner, 1996). They also facilitate the cultural facilities including the theatres, museums and other marked places to house the history. It also comprises of tourism in the rural areas exhibiting the tradition of the original cultural communities of those areas. It may include all the festivals, rituals, values as well as lifestyles. It has been reported that the cultural tourist spend more money than the other traditional tourist do. This is the form of tourism that has become popular in past few decades. According to OECD report, it has concluded that the role played by the cultural tourism in the development of the countries in the different parts of the world.

Background

There could be many forms of the cultural tourism that plays a vital role in the branding of the region or the country (Sassen, 1990). The Contemporary tourism has now become the major issue of debate in the international lines of tourism. It has highlighted many problems, issues and the event that had played a vital to upgrade the economy, and the cultural imager of the country as well as the region (Sharpley, 2006). There could be many forms of the contemporary and cultural tourism based on the intension and the idea of the tourism.

The destination chosen here for the tourism is London and the form of the cultural tourism is based on the recreational and the sports activities, that is, Olympic London.

There are a number of attraction for the tourists in the city of London that mainly focused of the Greenwich Tower Hamlets, etc, but still there are the in the bigger picture that have faded away from the scenario and have become isolated from the tourism market (Cartier, et.al 2005). The private sector will come forward in the development of more hotels, in the East London but there are no plans exhibited by the government of the international market to make investments in new hotel stock.
